This enactment makes it an offence for an employer to fail to provide a record of employment in accordance with regulations made under theEmployment Insurance Act.

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

1. Section 106 of the Employment Insurance Act is amended by adding the following after subsection (1):

1. L’article 106 de la Loi sur l’assurance-emploi est modifié par adjonction, après le paragraphe (1), de ce qui suit :

Offence and punishment

(1.1) Every employer who fails to provide a record of employment to an insured person in accordance with the regulations is guilty of an offence and liable on summary conviction to a fine of not more than $5,000.

(1.1) Tout employeur qui omet de fournir un relevé d’emploi à un assuré conformément aux règlements commet une infraction et est passible, sur déclaration de culpabilité par procédure sommaire, d’une amende maximale de 5 000 $.
