Summary
This enactment amends the Canada Transportation Act to require the Minister of Transport to make regulations that would force domestic and foreign air carriers to file reports with the Minister on matters affecting the public interest.
It also allows these reports to be disclosed and made available to the public without first obtaining the consent of the air carrier that provided the information to the Minister.

An Act to amend the Canada Transportation Act
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
1996, c.10
1. The Canada Transportation Act is amended by adding the following after section 50:
50.1 The Minister shall make regulations requiring domestic and foreign air carriers to file, under oath, with the Minister, in the form and manner prescribed by the regulations, annual, monthly, periodical and special reports on matters affecting the public interest, including
(a) flight delays;
(b) mishandled baggage; and
(c) oversales.
2. Section 51 of the Act is amended by adding the following after subsection (2):
(2.1) Subsection (1) does not apply to information collected under section 50.1.
