An Act to require public acknowledgement of
support given to a cultural project that
involves public funds
|
|
|
|
|
Short title
|
1. This Act may be cited as the Cultural
Grants Acknowledgement Act.
|
|
Definitions
|
2. The definitions in this section apply in
this Act.
|
|
``funded
project'' « projet culturel
|
``funded project'' means any good, service,
work or project related to culture that is
assisted with a grant and is made or
provided for the benefit of the public or a
class of the public.
|
|
``grant'' « subvention »
|
``grant'' means a payment, contribution, loan,
guarantee of a loan or other method of
funding that is a charge on public funds
made under the authority of an Act
administered by the Minister to finance, in
whole or in part, a funded project.
|
|
``Minister'' « ministre »
|
``Minister'' means the Minister of Canadian
Heritage.

3. At the time that a funded project is
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
the recipient of the grant shall, in the manner
prescribed in the regulations, acknowledge
that the funded project is supported by a grant
and specify the percentage of the total cost of
the funded project that is covered by the grant,
and shall submit to the Minister, in the
prescribed form, a certificate that the
acknowledgement has been made.

4. For the purposes of section 3, the Minister
may make regulations
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Penalty
|
5. The Minister may require any
organization that fails to comply with any
provision of this Act to repay or release to Her
Majesty in right of Canada all or any of the
grant that has been paid in respect of the
funded project.
|
