An Act to amend the Controlled Drugs and
Substances Act (medical use of
marihuana)
|
|
|
|
|
|
1. Section 2 of the Controlled Drugs and
Substances Act is amended by adding the
following in alphabetical order:
|
|
``medical
purposes'' « fins médicales »
|
``medical purposes'' includes the use of a
substance to improve a person's health,
condition, or general physical or mental
well-being;
|
|
|
2. Section 4 of the Act is is amended by
adding the following after subsection (8):
|
|
Possession for
medical
purposes
|
(9) A person who possesses a substance
included in Schedule IX is not guilty of an
offence under this Act if the substance is in an
amount that does not exceed the amount set
out for that substance in Schedule IX and if the
person
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Additional
provisions
|
(10) The provisions in subsection (9) are in
addition to the Minister's exemption powers
provided for in section 56.
|
|
|
3. Section 60 of the Act is replaced by the
following:
|
|
Schedules
|
60. The Governor in Council may, by order,
amend any of Schedules I to IX by adding to
them or deleting from them any item or
portion of an item, where the Governor in
Council deems the amendment to be
necessary in the public interest.
|
|
|
4. The Act is amended by adding the
following after Schedule VIII:
|
|
|

|

|
1. Cannabis (marihuana) 30 g
|
