SUMMARY |

The purpose of this enactment is to provide for redress for the
injustice done to persons of Ukrainian descent and other Europeans
during the First World War, to commemorate this sad event in Canadian
history and to provide for restitution to be made. The restitution is to be
devoted to educational materials dealing with Canada's past internment
policies and activities, understanding about tolerance and the role of the
Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
