|
|
|
1. Section 2 of the Firearms Act is
amended by adding the following after
subsection (3):
|
|
| Interpreta- tion re registration
|
(4) Provisions of this Act relating to powers
or requirements to issue, revoke, seize,
surrender, verify, request the production of,
lend or otherwise deal with a registration
certificate apply only to circumstances
involving a firearm that is a restricted or
prohibited firearm.
|
|
| Scope of
registration
|
(5) For greater certainty, nothing in this Act
requires a person to register a firearm unless it
is a restricted firearm or a prohibited firearm.

2. In sections 3 to 7, references to
provisions in the Criminal Code are
references to those provisions as enacted by
section 139 of chapter 39 of the Statutes of
Canada, 1995.
|

3. (1) Section 91 of the Criminal Code is
amended by replacing paragraph (1)(b) by
the following:
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
(2) Subsection 91(5) of the Act is
repealed.
|
|
|
|
4. (1) Section 92 of the Act is amended by
replacing paragraph (1)(b) by the
following:
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
(2) Subsection 92(5) of the Act is
repealed.
|

|
|
5. (1) Section 94 of the Act is amended by
replacing subparagraph (a)(i)(B) by the
following:
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
(2) Subsection 94(5) of the Act is
repealed.
|
|
|
|
6. The word ``firearm'' in paragraphs
105(1)(a) and (b) of the Act is replaced by
the words ``restricted firearm or prohibited
firearm''.

7. The word ``firearm'' in paragraphs
106(1)(a) and (b) of the Act is replaced by
the words ``restricted firearm or prohibited
firearm''.
