68. (1) Subsection 97(1) of the Mackenzie Valley Resource Management Act is replaced by the following:

National parks and historic sites

97. (1) Subject to paragraph 102(2)(b), this Part does not apply in respect of the use of land or waters or the deposit of waste within a park or park reserve to which the Canada National Parks Act applies or within lands acquired pursuant to the Historic Sites and Monuments Act.

(2) Subsection (1) comes into force on the later of the coming into force of

    (a) section 1 of this Act, and

    (b) Part 4 of the Mackenzie Valley Resource Management Act.

69. (1) Subsection 2.1(1) of the Northwest Territories Waters Act is replaced by the following:

National parks and historic sites

2.1 (1) This Act does not apply in respect of the use of waters or the deposit of waste within a park or park reserve to which the Canada National Parks Act applies, or on any land acquired for the purposes of the Historic Sites and Monuments Act, that is situated within the Mackenzie Valley, as that expression is defined in section 2 of the Mackenzie Valley Resource Management Act.

(2) Subsection (1) comes into force on the later of the coming into force of

    (a) section 1 of this Act, and

    (b) subsection 2.1(1) of the Northwest Territories Waters Act, as enacted by subsection 165(2) of the Mackenzie Valley Resource Management Act, chapter 25 of the Statutes of Canada, 1998.

70. (1) If Bill C-8, introduced in the second session of the thirty-sixth Parliament and entitled An Act respecting marine conservation areas (the ``other Act''), receives royal assent, the definitions ``park'' and ``park reserve'' in section 2 of this Act are replaced by the following:

``park''
« parc »

``park'' means a national park of Canada named and described in Schedule 1.

``park reserve''
« réserve »

``park reserve'' means a national park reserve of Canada named and described in Schedule 2.

(2) Subsection (1) comes into force on the later of the coming into force of the other Act and the coming into force of section 2 of this Act.

COMING INTO FORCE

Coming into force

71. (1) Subject to subsections (2) to (4), this Act, other than sections 68 to 70, comes into force on a day to be fixed by order of the Governor in Council.

(2) Paragraph 17(1)(b) and the description of Wapusk National Park of Canada in Part 4 of Schedule 1 come into force on a day to be fixed by order of the Governor in Council.

(3) Paragraph 17(1)(c) and the description of Gros Morne National Park of Canada in Part 10 of Schedule 1 come into force on a day to be fixed by order of the Governor in Council.

(4) The description of Aulavik National Park of Canada in Part 12 of Schedule 1 comes into force on a day to be fixed by order of the Governor in Council.
