SUMMARY

The purpose of this enactment is to remove the provision of the Canada Post Corporation Act that deems mail contractors, who provide on rural routes essentially the same services as employees do in urban areas, not to be dependant contractors and therefore not be entitled to bargain collectively under the Canada Labour Code.

This will remove the bar to collective bargaining for these dependant contractors.
