342. The Minister shall, as soon as possible
after the end of each fiscal year, prepare and
cause to be laid before Parliament a report on
the administration and enforcement of this
Act for that year.
|

Permanent
review of Act
by parliamen- tary committee
|
343. (1) The administration of this Act
shall, every seven years after the coming into
force of this Act, be reviewed by the
committee of the House of Commons, or of
both Houses of Parliament, that may be
designated or established by Parliament for
that purpose.
|
|
Review and
report
|
(2) The committee designated or
established by Parliament for the purpose of
subsection (1) shall undertake a
comprehensive review of the provisions and
operation of this Act and shall, within a year
after the review is undertaken or within any
further time that the House of Commons may
authorize, submit a report to Parliament
thereon including a statement of any changes
to this Act or its administration that the
committee would recommend.

13. Paragraphs 218(1)(a) and (j),

in respect of this Act.

349. Section 19 of the Act is replaced by

``standard'' in section 2 of the Motor Vehicle
Safety Act are replaced by the following:

|
``sell'' includes to offer for sale or lease , have

sale or lease ;

``standard'' « normet »
|
``standard'' means a standard that governs the
design, construction, functioning or
marking of vehicles or equipment for the
purpose of reducing the risk of death, injury
or property damage from vehicle use;

351. Paragraph 5(1)(c) of the Act is
repealed.

|
352. Section 8 of the Act and the heading
before it are repealed.

353. (1) Paragraph 9(1)(b) of the Act is
replaced by the following:

(2) Subsection 9(3) of the Act is replaced
by the following:

(3) An exemption may not be granted for a
model if the exemption would substantially
diminish the safe performance of the model or
if the company applying for the exemption has
not attempted in good faith to bring the model
into conformity with all prescribed standards
applicable to it.

354. Section 21 of the Act is repealed.
