SUMMARY |
|
|
This enactment amends the Customs Act to give designated customs
officers the power to arrest without warrant and to release from custody
in all cases where arrest without warrant by a peace officer is permitted,
and release from custody by a peace officer is required, under the
Criminal Code. The enactment also gives designated customs officers
the power to deal with impaired driving offences.

a peace officer is taken into custody, or where a person who has been
arrested without warrant and delivered to a peace officer under
subsection 494(3) is detained in custody under subsection 503(1) for
