87.1 Subsection 31(1) of the Parliament of
Canada Act is replaced by the following:

Issuance of
election writ
|
31. (1) Where a vacancy occurs in the
House of Commons, a writ shall be issued
between the 11th day and the 180th day after
the receipt by the Chief Electoral Officer of
the warrant for the issue of a writ for the
election of a member of the House.

REFERENDUM ACT |

|
88. Sections 8 and 9 of the Referendum
Act are repealed.
|
|
|
89. Subsections 9.1(3) to (5) of the Act are
repealed.
|
|
|
90. Section 12 of the Act is replaced by the
following:
|
|
Appointments
in writing and
on oath
|
12. Every person appointed pursuant to
section 11 shall be appointed in writing and
shall take such oath of office as the Chief
Electoral Officer may specify.
|
|
|
91. The definition ``referendum officer''
in subsection 32(1) of the Act is replaced by
the following:
|
|
``referendum
officer'' « fonction- naire référen- daire »
|
``referendum officer'' means the Chief
Electoral Officer, the Assistant Chief
Electoral Officer and every returning
officer, assistant returning officer, deputy
returning officer, poll clerk, revising agent
and registration officer, and includes any
person having any duty to perform under
this Act, to the faithful performance of
which duty the person may be sworn.

92. Section 39 of the Act and the heading
before it are repealed.
|
|
|
93. Schedule II to the Act is replaced by
