pleasure and the chairperson may receive
such fees as are fixed by the Governor in

57. (1) The definition ``Chairman'' in
subsection 2(1) of the English version of the
Canadian International Trade Tribunal Act
is repealed.

(2) Subsection 2(1) of the English version
of the Act is amended by adding the
following in alphabetical order:

58. (1) Subsection 3(1) of the Act is
replaced by the following:

3. (1) There is hereby established a tribunal,
to be known as the Canadian International
Trade Tribunal, consisting, subject to subsec
tion (2), of not more than nine permanent
members to be appointed by the Governor in
Council.
|

(2) Subsection 3(5) of the Act is replaced
by the following:

Re- appointment of permanent members
|
(5) A permanent member, on the expiration
of a first term of office, is eligible to be
re-appointed in the same or another capacity.

59. (1) The Act is amended by adding the
following after section 3:

3.1 The Governor in Council shall desig
nate one of the members appointed under
subsection 3(1) to hold office as Chairperson
and two to hold office as Vice-Chairpersons.

(2) For greater certainty, each person
who holds office as Chairman or Vice-
Chairman of the Canadian International
Trade Tribunal immediately before the
coming into force of subsection (1) contin
ues in office during good behaviour as
Chairperson or Vice-Chairperson, as the
case may be, of the Tribunal for the
remainder of the term for which the person
was appointed, but may be removed by the
Governor in Council for cause.

60. Subsections 6(2) and (3) of the Act are
replaced by the following:

Expenses
|
(2) Each member is entitled to be paid
reasonable travel and living expenses incurred
by the member while absent from the mem
ber's ordinary place of work in the course of
performing duties under this Act.
|
|
|
61. Subsection 8(1) of the English version
of the Act is replaced by the following:

8. (1) In the event of the absence or
incapacity of the Chairperson or if the office
of Chairperson is vacant, the Tribunal may
authorize one of the Vice-Chairpersons to act
as Chairperson for the time being, and a
Vice-Chairperson so authorized has and may
exercise and perform all the powers, duties
and functions of the Chairperson .

62. Section 10 of the Act is amended by
adding the following after subsection (3):

Compensation
|
(4) The members of the Tribunal are
deemed to be employees for the purposes of
the Government Employees Compensation
Act and to be employed in the public service
of Canada for the purposes of any regulations
made pursuant to section 9 of the Aeronautics
Act.

shall be managed by a Board of Directors
consisting of up to seven members, including
a Chairperson and a Vice-Chairperson , to be
appointed by the Governor in Council, on the
recommendation of the Minister.

65. Section 9 of the Act is replaced by the
following:

Remuneration
|
9. (1) The Chairperson and the Vice-Chair
person shall be paid any remuneration that is
fixed by the Governor in Council.
|

|
(2) The members of the Board, other than
the Chairperson and the Vice-Chairperson ,
shall be paid any remuneration that is fixed by
the Governor in Council for their attendance
at any meetings of the Board, or of any of its
committees, that the Chairperson directs them
to attend, and for any special work for the
Commission performed by them at the request
of the Chairperson.

66. Section 12 of the Act is replaced by the
following:

|
12. In the event of the absence or incapacity
of the Chairperson, the Vice-Chairperson
shall be designated by the Board to exercise all
of the powers and perform all of the duties and
functions of the Chairperson.

67. Section 15 of the Act is replaced by the

|
15. (1) Subject to subsection (2), the Board
shall meet at least three times in each year, at
different places in Canada, at any times and
places that the Chairperson may select.

71. Section 20 of the Act is replaced by the

Delegation
|
20. The Minister may delegate any of the
Minister's powers, duties and functions under
this Act to any Minister of State appointed
pursuant to the Ministries and Ministers of
State Act to assist the Minister.
|
|
|
72. Section 23 of the Act is repealed.
|
|

73. The heading before section 26 of the
English version of the Act is replaced by the
following:
