SUMMARY |

This enactment aligns the federal minimum wage rate with the
general minimum wage rates established from time to time by the
provinces and the territories. The rate paid to any particular employee
is that based on the employee's province or territory of employment.
The Governor in Council retains the authority to establish a minimum
wage rate that can apply to employees on a provincial or territorial basis
and that differs from the rate set by a province or territory.
