SUMMARY

This bill amends section 3 of the Broadcasting Act by providing, in the context of the broadcasting policy, that a cable distributor should not demand money from a person for the provision or sale of a new programming service where the person has not agreed to receive the new service.

Section 5 of this Act creates an obligation for the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission to regulate and supervise all aspects of the Canadian broadcasting system with a view to implementing the broadcasting policy set out in the Act.
