An Act to amend the Holidays Act (Remembrance Day) |
Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
R.S., c. H-5
Holidays Act
1 Section 3 of the Holidays Act is replaced by the following:
Remembrance Day
3 Insertion start (1) Insertion end November 11, being the day in the year 1918 on which the Great War was triumphantly concluded by an armistice, is a Insertion start legal Insertion end holiday and shall be kept and observed as such throughout Canada under the name of “Remembrance Day”.
When November 11 is a Saturday or a Sunday
Start of inserted block(2) When November 11 is a Saturday or a Sunday, the following Monday is a legal holiday and shall be kept and observed as such throughout Canada under the name of “Remembrance Day”.
End of inserted blockCanadian flag at half-mast
Start of inserted block(3) On Remembrance Day, the Canadian flag on the Peace Tower shall be lowered to half-mast.
End of inserted blockComing into Force
2 This Act comes into force on a day to be fixed by order of the Governor in Council.
