Préambule

Attendu :
que les premiers immigrants d’origine arabe sont arrivés au Canada en 1882, quelques années après la Confédération;
que le pays compte maintenant plus d’un million de Canadiens d’origine arabe et que ce nombre continue d’augmenter grâce à des communautés arabo-canadiennes jeunes et dynamiques qui s’épanouissent dans toutes les régions;
que les Canadiens d’origine arabe de tous les horizons contribuent de manière importante à la vie sociale, économique et politique du Canada;
que les Canadiens d’origine arabe enrichissent le paysage culturel du Canada, notamment par la littérature, la musique, la nourriture et la mode;
que le Parlement souhaite souligner et célébrer l’apport historique des Canadiens d’origine arabe dans l’édification de la société canadienne d’hier et d’aujourd’hui,

Preamble

Whereas the first persons of Arab origin arrived in Canada in 1882, in the early years after Confederation;
Whereas the population of Arab Canadians has since grown to over one million and continues to flourish, with young and dynamic Arab Canadian communities thriving throughout Canada;
Whereas Arab Canadians from all walks of life have made important contributions to Canada’s social, economic and political life;
Whereas Arab Canadians have made rich contributions to the cultural fabric of Canada, including through literature, music, food and fashion;
And whereas Parliament wishes to recognize and celebrate the historic mark that Arab Canadians have made and continue to make in building Canadian society;

Now, therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
