SOMMAIRE

Le texte modifie la Loi sur le gouverneur général afin de prévoir qu’un gouverneur général n’est admissible à une pension ou à d’autres prestations que s’il a exercé cette charge pendant au moins cinq années consécutives.‍

SUMMARY

This enactment amends the Governor General’s Act to provide that a Governor General is not eligible for a retiring annuity or other benefits unless they hold office for at least five consecutive years.‍

1 Le titre de la partie II de la Loi sur le gouverneur général est remplacé par ce qui suit :

1 The title of Part II of the Governor General’s Act is replaced by the following:

2 (1) Le passage du paragraphe 6(1) de la même loi précédant l’alinéa a) est remplacé par ce qui suit :

(1.‍1) Le titulaire de la charge qui, de l’avis du gouverneur en conseil, ne peut, pour des raisons médicales, l’exercer pendant cinq années consécutives est réputé l’avoir exercée pendant au moins cinq années consécutives pour l’application du paragraphe (1).

(1.‍1) A Governor General who, in the opinion of the Governor in Council, is unable for medical reasons to hold office for five consecutive years is deemed to have held office for at least five consecutive years for the purpose of subsection (1).

12 Il ne peut être prélevé sur le Trésor une somme destinée à la prestation d’un soutien administratif à un ancien gouverneur général ou au remboursement de dépenses qu’il a engagées que si celui-ci a exercé cette charge pendant au moins cinq années consécutives.

12 No money shall be paid out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund for the purpose of providing administrative support to or reimbursing expenses incurred by a former Governor General who held office for less than five consecutive years.

4 (1) Le paiement, au titre de la partie II de la Loi sur le gouverneur général dans sa version antérieure à l’entrée en vigueur de la présente loi, d’une pension à un ancien gouverneur général ayant exercé cette charge pendant moins de cinq années consécutives cesse le jour de l’entrée en vigueur de la présente loi.

4 (1) The payment, under Part II of the Governor General’s Act as it read immediately before the day on which this Act comes into force, of an annuity to a former Governor General who held office for less than five consecutive years ceases on the day on which this Act comes into force.‍

(2) Le paiement, au titre de la partie II de la Loi sur le gouverneur général dans sa version antérieure à l’entrée en vigueur de la présente loi, d’une pension à un survivant continue d’être versé au survivant sa vie durant.‍

(2) The payment, under Part II of the Governor General’s Act as it read immediately before the day on which this Act comes into force, of an annuity to a survivor shall continue during the life of the survivor.‍
