The Standing Joint Committee on the Library of Parliament met at 6:03 p.m. this day, in Room 209, West Block, the Joint Chair, Lui Temelkovski, presiding.

 

Members of the Committee present representing the Senate: The Honourable Senators Jane Marie Cordy, Elizabeth Hubley and Marilyn Trenholme Counsell.

 

Members of the Committee present representing the House of Commons: Gerry Byrne, Mark Eyking, Peter Goldring, Gurbax Malhi, Denise Poirier-Rivard, Bill Siksay, Lui Temelkovski and Maurice Vellacott.

 

Acting Members from the House of Commons present: Lloyd St. Amand for Susan Kadis.

 

In attendance: Senate: Adam Thompson, Joint Clerk of the Committee. Library of Parliament: James Robertson, Principal; Tim Williams, Analyst.

 

Witnesses: William Robert Young.

 
Pursuant to the order of reference from the Senate on November 22, 2005, House of Commons Standing Order 111.1, and the order of reference from the Commons on November 17, 2005, the Committee commenced consideration of the certificate of nomination of William Robert Young to the office of Parliamentary Librarian.
 

William Robert Young made a statement and answered questions.

 

At 6:52 p.m., the sitting was suspended.

At 6:53 p.m., the sitting resumed in camera.

 

It was agreed, — That the Joint Chairs report to their respective Houses that the Committee approves the appointment of William Robert Young to the office of Parliamentary Librarian.

 

At 7:06 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
