The Standing Joint Committee on the Library of Parliament met at 9:39 a.m. this day, in Room 505, Victoria Building, the Co-Chair, Carolyn Bennett, presiding.
Members of the Committee present:
From the Senate : The Honourables Jane Marie Cordy, Donald H. Oliver, Vivienne Poy, Elizabeth Hubley.
From the House of Commons : Mauril Bélanger, Carolyn Bennett, Robert Bertrand, Marlene Catterall, Ken Epp, Marcel Gagnon, Deborah Grey, Jerry Pickard, Jacques Saada.
Acting Members present: Raymond Bonin for Jim Karygiannis, André Harvey for Raymond Lavigne.
Pursuant to Standing Order 106(2) the Co-Clerk proceed to the election of a Co-Chair (Senate).
The Hon. Elizabeth Hubley moved, -- That The Hon. Vivienne Poy be elected Co-Chair of the Joint Committee.
Accordingly, the Hon. Vivienne Poy was declared duly elected Co-Chair of the Joint Committee.
Pursuant to Standing Order106 (2), election of a Vice-Chair (House of Commons).
Ken Epp moved, -- That Deborah Grey be elected Vice-Chair of the Joint Committee.
Accordingly, Deborah Grey was declared duly elected Vice-Chair of the Joint Committee.
Mauril Bélanger moved, -- That the Co-Clerks be authorized to distribute only documents available in both official languages.
After debate, the motion was agreed to by unanimous consent.
By unanimous consent, it was agreed, -- That Members of the Joint Committee make a visit of the Main Branch of the Library of Parliament immediately after adjournement of the Committee later this day.
At 10:12 a.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
