The Standing Joint Committee on Official Languages met in a televised session at 3:29 p.m. this day, in Room 253-D, Centre Block, the Co-Chairs, The Hon. Shirley Maheu and Mauril Bélanger, presiding.
Members of the Committee present:
From the Senate: The Hon. Michel Biron, Senator, The Hon. Jean-Robert Gauthier, The Hon. Viola Léger, The Hon. Jean-Claude Rivest and The Hon. Raymond C. Setlakwe.
From the House of Commons: Eugène Bellemare, Gérard Binet, John Godfrey, Yvon Godin, John Herron and Benoît Sauvageau.
Acting Member present: James Moore for Scott Reid.
In attendance: From the Senate: Tonu Onu, Co-Clerk of the Committee; From the House of Commons: Jean-François Pagé, Co-Clerk of the Committee; From the Library of Parliament: Françoise Coulombe, Research Officer.
Appearing: From Transport Canada: David Collenette, Minister, Transport Canada; From the Treasury Board Secretariat: Lucienne Robillard, President of the Treasury Board and Minister responsible for Infrastructure.

Mrs Robillard and Mr. Collenette made opening statements and with Valérie Dufour, Jacques Pigeon and Diana Monnet answered questions.
At 4:42 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Co-Chair.
