An Act to change the names of certain electoral districts

[Assented to 18th December, 1996]

      Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

Name changed to ``Bellechasse - Etchemins - Montmagny - L'Islet''

1. In the representation order declared in force by Proclamation of January 8, 1996 under the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, effective upon the first dissolution of Parliament that occurs after January 8, 1997, paragraph 8 of that part relating to the Province of Quebec is amended by substituting the name ``Bellechasse - Etchemins - Montmagny - L'Islet'' for the name ``Bellechasse - Montmagny - L'Islet''.

Name changed to ``Bonaventure - Gaspé - Îles-de-la-
Madeleine - Pabok''

2. In the representation order declared in force by Proclamation of January 8, 1996 under the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, effective upon the first dissolution of Parliament that occurs after January 8, 1997, paragraph 22 of that part relating to the Province of Quebec is amended by substituting the name ``Bonaventure - Gaspé - Îles-de-la-Madeleine - Pabok'' for the name ``Gaspé - Bonaventure - Îles-de-la-Madeleine''.

3. 18. 19. In the representation order declared in force by Proclamation of January 8, 1996 under the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, effective upon the first dissolution of Parliament that occurs after January 8, 1997, paragraph 14 of that part relating to the Province of British Columbia is amended by substituting the name ``Okanagan - Shuswap'' for the name ``North Okanagan - Shuswap''.

Name changed to ``Beauséjour - Petitcodiac''

19.1 In the representation order declared in force by Proclamation of January 8, 1996 under the Electoral Boundaries Readjustment Act, effective upon the first dissolution of Parliament that occurs after January 8, 1997, paragraph 2 of that part relating to the Province of New Brunswick is amended by substituting the name ``Beauséjour - Petitcodiac'' for the name ``Beauséjour''.

Coming into force

20. This Act shall come into force on January 9, 1997 if it is assented to before that date, otherwise it shall come into force on the day it is assented to.
