An Act to provide for the use of a maximum
speed control device for use on motor
vehicles and to prohibit the manufacture
and sale of motor vehicles that are not
equipped with a maximum speed control
device

SHORT TITLE |

Short title
|
1. This Act may be cited as the Maximum
Speed Control Device Act.

DEFINITIONS |

2. The definitions in this section apply in
this Act.
|
|
``maximum
speed control
device'' « régulateur de vitesse maximale »
|
``maximum speed control device'' means a
prescribed speed control device that cuts off
fuel to the engine of a motor vehicle when
the speed of the motor vehicle reaches 115
kilometres an hour.
|
|
``motor
vehicle'' « véhicule automobile »
|
``motor vehicle'' means any vehicle designed
to be driven or drawn on roads by any means
other than exclusively by muscular power,
and includes pedal cycles with auxiliary
motors, minibikes and motorized snow
vehicles, but does not include
|

3. A person shall not

4. Everyone who contravenes paragraph
3(a) or (b) is guilty of an offence and liable on
summary conviction to a fine not exceeding
fifty thousand dollars.

3(c) or (d) is guilty of an offence and liable on
summary conviction to a fine not exceeding
ten thousand dollars.

7. This Act shall come into force one year
after the day on which it is assented to.
