The Association aims to broaden the traditional bilateral ties between Canada and the United Kingdom through a more modern and dynamic relationship. Its objectives include developing a greater understanding of the differences in the operation of the parliaments of the two countries and of increasing cooperation between parliamentarians on matters of mutual concern in international bodies on domestic issues.
Founded in 1998 as part of an agreement between Canada and the United Kingdom, the Association promotes exchanges between British and Canadian Parliamentarians, with the aim of developing greater understanding of differences in the operation of the parliaments of our countries and of increasing co-operation between parliamentarians on matters of mutual concern in international bodies and on domestic issues. The Association sends delegations to the United Kingdom, receives British delegations in Canada and undertakes various events and activities to continue to foster the historic, parliamentary, business, cultural and social ties that exists between the two countries.
