Summary
This enactment establishes a National Historic Park dedicated to the people of Canada to honour and commemorate the “Persons Case”, in which the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council declared that the word “Persons” in section 24 of the Constitution Act, 1867 includes women.

An Act to establish a National Historic Park to commemorate the “Persons Case”
Preamble
WHEREAS, on October 18, 1929, the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council declared that women were “Persons” within the meaning of section 24 of the Constitution Act, 1867, thereby entitling women to become eligible to be summoned to and become members of the Senate of Canada;
AND WHEREAS the “Persons Case” was a landmark decision, the long term effects of which were to make the Parliament of Canada and other federal bodies more representative of Canadian society and to improve the status of women in Canadian society;
AND WHEREAS it is desirable to dedicate a park to all Canadians to commemorate and honour the “Persons Case” by designating a location in the National Capital Region as a National Historic Park;
NOW, THEREFORE, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the Persons Case National Historic Park Act.
Land set aside as a National Park
2. The lands described in the schedule are hereby set apart as a National Historic Park of Canada with like effect as though they had been set apart as a National Historic Park by the Governor in Council under and in compliance with subsection 9(1) of the National Parks Act.
Official name
3. The official name of the National Historic Park of Canada established by section 2 is the “Persons Case National Historic Park”.
Park to be public possession
4. In honour of and to commemorate the “Persons Case”, the National Historic Park of Canada established by section 2 is dedicated to the people of Canada as a public park for their use, benefit and education, and for the enjoyment of future generations of Canadians.
Application of National Parks Act
5. Part II of the National Parks Act applies to the National Historic Park of Canada established under section 2.
Binding on Her Majesty
6. This Act is binding on Her Majesty in right of Canada.

(Section 2)
That parcel or tract of land in the Province of Ontario more particularly described as follows:
Part of Lot A, West Sussex Street, Plan 42482; Part of Sussex Drive and Rideau Street, Plan 42482 (closed by By-Law 3657, registered as Instrument No. CR122494), and part of Lot B, Concession C, Rideau Front, known as Sussex Episcopal Church Property West, Plan 42482, designated as Parts 1, 2, 3, 8, 9 and 10 on Plan 5R-4770, in the City of Ottawa, in the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton.
Save and except that part of the said Lot A and Sussex Episcopal Church Property West, Plan 42482, which is designated as Parts 1, 2 and 3 on Plan 5R-9386, in the City of Ottawa, in the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton.
