SUMMARY

This bill establishes and specifies the design for a medal to be awarded by Canada for service with a peacekeeping force under United Nations command. Those who so served before September 30, 1988 are also entitled to an award of a Clasp reflecting the first award of the Nobel Peace Prize in that month.

The Minister of National Defence may prescribe supporting or consequential activities to be service for the purposes of the award, which would enable it to be given to such persons not in the Canadian Forces but who are involved in United Nations peacekeeping areas in such activities as policing, local administration, the delivery of aid, medical assistance or election assistance.
