Visit to Canada of His Excellency Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine
On November 26, 2024, His Excellency Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, conducted a working visit to Ottawa. The Chairman was accompanied by his spouse, Maryna Stefanchuk, Markiyan Lubkivskyi, Advisor to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Kateryna Lysenko, Press Secretary of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Vadym Sarakhan Chief Consultant of the Press Service of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (photojournalist), and Serhii Tiupa, Interpreter.
The Chairman met with the following officials and group:
- Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, C.C., C.M.M., C.O.M., O.Q., C.D., Governor General and Commander-in-Chief of Canada
- The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, P.C., M.P., Prime Minister;
- The Honourable Raymonde Gagné, C.M., O.M., Speaker of the Senate;
- The Honourable Greg Fergus, P.C., M.P., Speaker of the House of Commons;
- The Honourable Pierre Poilievre, P.C., M.P., Leader of the Official Opposition; and
- The Canada-Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Group, chaired by Mr. Yvan Baker, M.P.
The purpose of the visit to Ottawa was to advance parliamentary relations and discuss a range of geopolitical issues, including the war in Ukraine, NATO and security policy, bilateral relations between Ukraine and Canada, and other topics of mutual interest.
