Participation of the Honourable Greg Fergus, P.C., M.P., Speaker of the House of Commons, to the Parliamentary Conference: Never again? Democracy cannot tolerate antisemitism, Austria

 

On September 10 and 11, 2024, the Speaker of the House of Commons, the Honourable Greg Fergus, P.C., M.P., participated in the parliamentary conference Never again? Democracy cannot tolerate antisemitism in Vienna, Austria.

The conference, hosted by His Excellency Wolfgang Sobotka, President of the National Council of Austria, was attended by Speakers and Members from 18 Parliaments, and several representatives of European Jewish communities. The program included working sessions on “Antisemitism and the threat to democracy posed by hostility towards Jews”, the “Current situation of Jewish communities in Europe”, and “Developments in the Middle East and their impact on our society”.

Other program elements included bilateral meetings with counterparts attending the conference.
