The Joint Interparliamentary Council met this day at 3:39 p.m., in room 356-S of the Centre Block, Bruce Stanton, M.P., presiding.

1. Approval of Minutes
On motion of Jim Munson, the minutes of the meetings of April 20 and May 4, 2016 were adopted.


2. The Clerk informed the Council that, at its meeting of May 12, 2016, the Senate Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration approved the $121 310 over allocation of funds resulting from the adoption of the 2016-2017 fiscal year budget by the Council on April 20, 2016 .


3. Requests CPA (Additional funds)
Irene Mathyssen, M.P., Executive Member of the Canadian Branch of the CPA and Elizabeth Hubley, Senator, Vice-Chair of the CPA, presented a request for additional funds in the amount of $35 000 and answered questions.

After discussion, on motion of Dave Mackenzie, it was agreed that, pending final approval from the Senate Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration, the CPA be allotted an additional $35,000 to allow the association to take part in the upcoming 62nd CPC International Conference in Dhaka, Bangladesh in September 2016.


At 4:08 p.m., the sitting was suspended.


At 4:38 p.m., the sitting resumed.


4. Canada-Europe (Staff accompanying a delegation)
Scott Simms, M.P., President of the Canada-Europe Parliamentary Association presented a request to have a delegation of four parliamentarians accompanied by two staff members on an outgoing activity to Ulan-Ude, Russia, from June 13 to 17, 2016.

After discussion, and in light of the fact that the visit was considered to be complex both logistically and in terms of content, on motion of Ms. Petitpas-Taylor, the request for an exemption was agreed to.


5.International conferences
The Clerk presented documents on international conferences held in Canada during the past five years and those planned thus far for the next five years.


At 5:00 p.m., the Council adjourned to the call of the Co-Chairs.
