Working visit of the Honourable Greg Fergus, P.C., M.P., Speaker of the House of Commons, Washington, D.C., United States of America
On February 5 and 6, 2025, the Speaker of the House of Commons, the Honourable Greg Fergus, P.C., M.P., undertook a working visit to Washington D.C., United States of America. Accompanying the Speaker was Tommy Desfossés, Chief of Staff to the Speaker, Office of the Speaker of the House of Commons.
In Washington, the Speaker met with:
- The Honourable Hakeem Jeffries, Minority Leader, United States House of Representatives;
- His Excellency Sir Ronald Sanders, High Commissioner, Embassy of Antigua and Barbuda; and
- Her Excellency Lou-Anne Gilchrist, High Commissioner, Embassy of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
During his visit to Washington, the Speaker also attended the National Prayer Breakfast Gathering, where he had the opportunity to engage with various members of the United States Senate and House of Representatives, as well as other U.S. and international political, and business leaders.
The purpose of the visit was to further strengthen the Canada-U.S. parliamentary relationship, reinforce parliamentary cooperation and strengthen bilateral ties between both countries.
