Participation of the Honourable Greg Fergus, P.C., M.P., Speaker of the House of Commons, to the 41st Canadian Presiding Officers' Conference (CPOC), Iqaluit, Nunavut
From Jan. 15 to 17, 2024, the Honourable Greg Fergus, P.C., M.P., participated in the 41st Canadian Presiding Officers' Conference (CPOC) in Iqaluit, Nunavut. He was accompanied by Eric Janse, Clerk of the House of Commons and Alana Repstock, Social Media Manager, Office of the Speaker of the House of Commons.
The conference was also attended by Speakers, or their designates, from Manitoba, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan, and New Brunswick. The event provided the Canadian Speakers the opportunity to engage in dialogue on important issues facing each of their legislatures including decorum and parliamentary security. Speaker Fergus also gave a presentation on Recent Questions of Privilege in the House of Commons.
