Parliamentary Associations

Senators and Members of Parliament represent the Parliament of Canada at home and abroad by participating in activities organized by Parliamentary Associations. The Parliament of Canada's international parliamentary relations are carried out in part through formal parliamentary associations that operate on multilateral and bilateral levels to promote Canada's interests. These associations provide a forum for Senators and Members of Parliament to actively participate in the exchange of ideas, information and experiences with their fellow legislators at an international level. Every year, Senators and Members of Parliament are invited to join Parliamentary Associations according to their interests. Association members meet at annual meetings and elect executive committees to coordinate and direct activities with their bilateral counterparts or with the international secretariats of the multilateral organizations of which they are members.
