On November 21, 2022, the Co-Chair of the Canada-Africa Parliamentary Association, Brenda Shanahan, met with the Honorable Thomas D’Acquin Masela Kiluty Zury and the Honorable Simon Mulamba Mputu, members of Parliament at the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Ms. Shanahan gave an opening speech before handing over the floor to Mr. Masela, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee of the National Assembly of the DRC. This was followed by a conversation among the participants.
The purpose of the discussion was to facilitate parliamentary relations between Canada and the DRC.

CEUS hosted Scotty Greenwood, CEO of the Canadian-American Business Council. It was an opportunity to discuss various themes important to the relationship between the two countries such as trade, border issues and the recent U.S. mid-term elections.

The 63rd Meeting of ParlAmericas’ Board of Directors occurred virtually on November 8, 2022. Marc G. Serré, M.P., Chair of the Canadian Section of ParlAmericas (CPAM), Member on ParlAmericas’ Board of Directors (North America) and Chair of the ParlAmericas Corporation, participated in the meeting.
Paraguayan Senator Blanca Ovelar, President of ParlAmericas’ Board of Directors, provided opening remarks and an update on ParlAmericas’ recent activities. During the discussion of corporate business, Mr. Serré presented information related to upcoming annual audits. The Board then discussed ParlAmericas’ forthcoming 19th Plenary Assembly and the 14th Gathering of the ParlAmericas Parliamentary Network for Gender Equality (PNGE). Finally, ParlAmericas’ International Secretariat provided an update concerning several ongoing initiatives and strategic plans related to the ParlAmericas Corporation.
