Meeting No. 1

May 11, 2016


The Subcommittee of the Joint Interparliamentary Council met this day in camera at 3:27 p.m., in room 356-S of the Centre Block, Scott Simms presiding.


Representing the Senate:

1. Subcommittee business


It was agreed that the subcommittee hold all its meetings in camera.


At 3:40 p.m., the sitting was suspended.


At 4:00 p.m., the sitting resumed.


It was agreed that – the Subcommittee invite current Association Chairs as well as sitting parliamentarians who were Association Chairs during the last session of the 41st Parliament, to roundtable discussions, before the end of June 2016.


It was agreed that – the Subcommittee invite the current Chairs of recognized Interparliamentary Groups to a roundtable discussion, before the end of June 2016.


It was agreed that – the Subcommittee invite the current Chairs of Friendship Groups to a roundtable discussion, before in September 2016.


It was agreed that – the Subcommittee invite all Party Whips to a roundtable discussion before in September 2016.


It was agreed that the Clerk and Analyst prepare a panel grouping proposal and schedule for the Chair’s consideration.


At 4:57 p.m., the Council adjourned to the call of the Co-Chairs.
