SOMMAIRE
Le texte modifie la Loi électorale du Canada pour abaisser de dix-huit à seize ans l’âge requis pour voter aux élections fédérales.
SUMMARY
This enactment amends the Canada Elections Act to lower the federal voting age in Canada from 18 to 16 years of age.

2 La définition de futur électeur, au para- graphe 2(1) de la Loi électorale du Canada, est remplacée par ce qui suit :
2 The definition future elector in subsection 2(1) of the Canada Elections Act is replaced by the following:
futur électeur Citoyen canadien âgé de quatorze ans ou plus, mais de moins de Insertion start seize Insertion end ans. (future elector)
future elector means a Canadian citizen who is 14 years of age or older but under Insertion start 16 Insertion end years of age. (futur électeur)
3 L’article 3 de la même loi est remplacé par ce qui suit :

7 La présente loi entre en vigueur le jour qui, dans le sixième mois suivant le mois de sa sanction, porte le même quantième que le jour de sa sanction — ou, à défaut de quantième identique, le dernier jour de ce sixième mois — à moins que le directeur général des élections ne publie auparavant, dans la Gazette du Canada, un avis portant que les préparatifs nécessaires à la mise en application de la loi ont été faits et qu’elle peut en conséquence entrer en vigueur, auquel cas elle entre en vigueur le jour de la publication de l’avis.
7 This Act comes into force on the day that, in the sixth month after the month in which it receives royal assent, has the same calendar number as the day on which it receives royal assent — or, if that sixth month has no day with that number, the last day of that sixth month — unless, before then, the Chief Electoral Officer publishes a notice in the Canada Gazette that the necessary preparations for the bringing into operation of this Act have been made and that it may come into force accordingly, in which case it comes into force on the day on which the notice is published.
