SOMMAIRE
SUMMARY
Le texte modifie la Loi de mise en œuvre de la Convention sur les armes chimiques en y supprimant l’annexe ainsi que les renvois à cette annexe mentionnés dans la Loi afin d’éviter toute divergence éventuelle entre la Convention sur l’interdiction de la mise au point, de la fabrication, du stockage et de l’emploi des armes chimiques et sur leur destruction, avec ses amendements éventuels, et les extraits de la Convention qui sont reproduits à l’annexe.
This enactment amends the Chemical Weapons Convention Implementation Act by deleting the schedule to that Act and the references to that schedule in that Act, in order to avoid potential discrepancies between the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction, as amended from time to time, and the portions of that Convention that are reproduced in that schedule.

Chemical Weapons Convention Implementation Act
1 (1) La définition de Convention, au paragraphe 2(1) de la Loi de mise en œuvre de la Convention sur les armes chimiques, est remplacée par ce qui suit :
1 (1) The definition Convention in subsection 2(1) of the Chemical Weapons Convention Implementation Act is replaced by the following:
Convention La Convention sur l’interdiction de la mise au point, de la fabrication, du stockage et de l’emploi des armes chimiques et sur leur destruction, signée à Paris (France) le 13 janvier 1993, ainsi que ses amendements éventuels apportés au titre de son article XV. (Convention)
Convention means the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction, signed at Paris, France on January 13, 1993, as amended from time to time pursuant to Article XV of the Convention; (Convention)
(2) Le paragraphe 2(3) de la même loi est abrogé.
(2) Subsection 2(3) of the Act is repealed.

EXPLANATORY NOTES
Convention La Convention sur l’interdiction de la mise au point, de la fabrication, du stockage et de l’emploi des armes chimiques et sur leur destruction, signée à Paris (France) le 13 janvier 1993 et dont des extraits sont reproduits à l’annexe, ainsi que ses amendements éventuels apportés au titre de son article XV. (Convention)
Convention means the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction, signed at Paris, France on January 13, 1993, as amended from time to time pursuant to Article XV of the Convention and portions of which are set out in the schedule to this Act; (Convention)
(3) Les dispositions de la Convention l’emportent sur les dispositions incompatibles de celle-ci reproduites à l’annexe.
(3) In the event of any inconsistency between the provisions set out in the schedule and the provisions of the Convention, the provisions of the Convention prevail.
