SUMMARY

This enactment amends the Employment Insurance Act to increase from 15 to 50 the maximum number of weeks for which benefits may be paid because of illness, injury or quarantine.

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
1996, c. 23

Employment Insurance Act

1Paragraph 12(3)‍(c) of the Employment Insurance Act is replaced by the following:
(c)because of a prescribed illness, injury or quarantine is 50;
2Paragraph 152.‍14(1)‍(c) of the Act is replaced by the following:
(c)because of a prescribed illness, injury or quarantine is 50;
