An Act respecting an Emergency Services Appreciation Day
Whereas emergency services are essential and integral to the existence of Canadian communities;
Whereas emergency services personnel often make personal sacrifices to fulfil their obligations and responsibilities;
And whereas the Parliament of Canada wishes to recognize the sacrifices made by emergency services personnel, and show its gratitude for the services these individual provide;
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:
SHORT TITLE
Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the Emergency Services Appreciation Day Act.
EMERGENCY SERVICES APPRECIATION DAY
Emergency Services Appreciation Day
2. Throughout Canada, in each and every year, the third Saturday of June shall be known as “Emergency Services Appreciation Day” in recognition and support of the work performed by police, fire and emergency ambulance personnel on a daily basis in communities across Canada.
Not a legal holiday
3. For greater certainty, Emergency Services Appreciation Day is not a legal holiday or a non-juridical day.
