The Standing Joint Committee on Official Languages met at 3:35 p.m. this day, in Room 112-N, Centre Block, the Co-Chairs, the Hon. Shirley Maheu and Mauril Bélanger, presiding.

From the Senate: the Hon. Lise Bacon, the Hon. Jean-Robert Gauthier, the Hon. Rose-Marie Losier-Cool, the Hon. Shirley Maheu, , the Hon. Jean-Claude Rivest, the Hon. Jean-Maurice Simard.
From the House of Commons: Mauril Bélanger, Eugène Bellemare, Gérard Binet, Claude Drouin, Yvon Godin, Scott Reid.
Acting Member present from the House of Commons: Mario Laframboise for Benoît Sauvageau
In attendance: From the Senate: Tonu Onu, Co-Clerk of the Committee. From the House of Commons: Jean-François Pagé, Co-Clerk of the Committee. From the Library of Parliament: Françoise Coulombe and Robert Asselin, Research Officers.
Witness(es): From the Transport Canada: Valérie Dufour, Director General, Air Policy; Jacques E. Pigeon, General Counsel, Legal Services.
In accordance with Standing Order 108 (1a) (2), a study on the bilingual services offered by Air Canada.
Valérie Dufour made an opening statement and with Jacques E. Pigeon, answered questions.
The Committee Members approved the folllowing list of witnesses:
-Treasury Board on May 8, 2001;
-Air Canada on May 15, 2001;
-Ms. Dyane Adam, Commissioner of Official Languages on May 16, 2001;
-"Gens de l'air du Québec" and the Canadian Tourism Commission on May 29, 2001;
-"Alliance Québec" and the "Association canadienne-française de l'Ontario" on May 30, 2001.
At 4:57 p.m., the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
