An Act to amend the Statistics Act (ethnicity
question)

1. Subsection 21(1) of the Statistics Act is
replaced by the following:
|

| Census
questions
|
21. (1) Subject to subsection (1.1), the
Governor in Council shall, by order, prescribe
the questions to be asked in any census taken
by Statistics Canada under section 19 or 20.
|
|
| Exception
|
(1.1) The Governor in Council shall not
prescribe any question that relates to a
person's ethnicity to be asked in a census taken
under section 19.
|
