SUMMARY |

The enactment amends the definition of ``child of the marriage'' in
the Divorce Act by including in this term persons between the ages of
16 and 18 years. This reflects the definition of ``child'' proposed by the
United Nations in the Convention on the Rights of the Child, an
agreement that was ratified by Canada in December 1991.
