SUMMARY

This enactment amends the Bank of Canada Act and provides that, beginning on the date it comes into force, the Bank of Canada shall cease to print and issue thousand dollar notes.

Already-issued thousand dollar notes will be legal tender for three months after this enactment comes into force.

However, for six months after this enactment comes into force, the Bank of Canada will continue to honour already-issued thousand dollar notes. After this time, the Bank of Canada will no longer honour such notes.
