An Act to amend the Canada Elections Act (ballot papers)

      Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

1. Section 81 of the Canada Elections Act is amended by adding the following after subsection (3):

Photographs to be affixed

(4) The candidate shall affix to the candidate's nomination paper two identical photographs of the candidate, approximately 4.5 cm by 3.5 cm in size, taken in the course of the year immediately preceding nomination day.

2. Subsection 100(1) of the Act is amended by striking out the word ``and'' at the end of paragraph (c), by adding the word ``and'' at the end of paragraph (d) and by adding the following after paragraph (d):

    (e) where two or more candidates have an identical name or similar names that can be confused, each candidate's photograph provided pursuant to subsection 81(4) shall be printed beside the candidate's name.
