The Standing Senate Joint Committee on the Library of Parliament met this day in Room 160-S, at 10:03 a.m., the Chairman, Gurbax Singh Malhi, M.P., presiding.

Representing the Senate: The Honourable Senators Bolduc, Grimard, Losier-Cool and Robichaud. (4)

Representing the House of Commons: Marlene Catterall, John Finlay, Deborah Grey, Paul Mercier, Karen Redman, and Brent St. Denis (6)

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

The Joint Chair (House of Commons) Mr. Malhi, read into the record the letter of resignation from the Joint Chair (Senate), Senator Corbin.

The Joint Clerk (Senate) presided over the election of the Joint Chair (Senate).

Senator Losier-Cool moved - That Senator Louis J. Robichaud be elected as Joint Chair of the Committee (Senate).

The question being put on the motion, it was agreed.

The Joint Clerk declared that Senator Louis J. Robichaud was duly elected as Joint Chair of the Committee (Senate).

The Joint Chair (House of Commons) called vote 10 under Parliament of the Estimates for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2000.

Mr. Paré made a statement and answered questions.

Ms. Beaulieu made an audio-visual presentation.

At 10:40 a.m. the sitting was suspended.

At 10:50 a.m. the sitting resumed.

At 11:20 a.m. the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
