SUMMARY |

The purpose of this bill is to allow only those registered parties that
have received 2 per cent or more of the valid votes cast in an election
or five per cent of the valid votes cast in an election in an electoral
district in which those parties endorsed a candidate to be eligible for a
22.5 per cent reimbursement of those expenses as provided for in the
Canada Elections Act. At present, every registered party is eligible for
that reimbursement simply where it has spent more than 10 per cent of
its election expenses limit.
