This enactment changes the title of the Employment Insurance Act back to its original version: the Unemployment Insurance Act.

Le texte rétablit l’ancien titre de la loi, soit la Loi sur l’assurance-chômage.

The enactment also changes the name of the Employment Insurance Account to the Unemployment Insurance Account.

Le texte change également le nom du Compte d’assurance-emploi pour « Compte d’assurance-chômage ».

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

1. The long title of the Employment Insurance Act is replaced by the following:

2. (1) Section 1 of the Act is replaced by the following:

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Unemployment Insurance Act.

Titre abrégé

Replacement of “Employment Insurance Act” with “Unemploy-ment Insurance Act”

(2) A reference in any other Act of Parliament, regulation, agreement or other instrument to the Employment Insurance Act is replaced, with such modifications as the circumstances require, by a reference to the Unemployment Insurance Act.

(2) Dans les lois fédérales, leurs textes d’application ainsi que dans tout accord ou autre document, la mention de la Loi sur l’assurance-emploi est remplacée, compte tenu des adaptations de circonstance, par la Loi sur l’assurance-chômage.

3. The Act is amended by replacing “Employment Insurance Account” with “Unemployment Insurance Account” wherever it occurs.

4. Section 32 of the Department of Human Resources Development Act is replaced by the following:

Audit by Auditor General

32. The accounts and financial transactions of the Commission and the Unemployment Insurance Account established by section 71 of the Unemployment Insurance Act shall be audited annually for the previous fiscal year by the Auditor General of Canada and a report of the audit relating to that Account shall be made to the Minister.

32. Le vérificateur général examine chaque année les comptes et les opérations financières de la Commission pour l’exercice précédent; il examine également, pour la même période, le Compte d’assurance-chômage créé par l’article 71 de la Loi sur l’assurance-chômage et en fait rapport au ministre.
