Sommaire

This enactment amends the Canadian Bill of Rights to include the right of an individual to adequate training to develop the individual’s full literacy potential, free of unreasonable financial or other barriers.

Le texte modifie la Déclaration canadienne des droits en y ajoutant le droit de l’individu à des cours d’alphabétisation lui permettant de développer ses aptitudes, sans obstacles injustifiés, notamment financiers.

Preamble

1960, c. 44

Whereas the Parliament of Canada recognizes the dignity and worth of all individuals and acknowledges that individuals have the right to enjoy the opportunities and benefits provided only through literacy;

And Whereas the provision of literacy training, free of unreasonable financial or other barriers, is necessary to ensure that right;

Now, Therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

Attendu :

que le Parlement du Canada reconnaît la dignité et la valeur de tous les individus et que chacun a le droit de profiter des possibilités et des avantages que seule l’alphabétisation peut procurer;

que l’exercice de ce droit passe par l’obtention de cours d’alphabétisation, sans obstacles injustifiés, notamment financiers,

Sa Majesté, sur l’avis et avec le consentement du Sénat et de la Chambre des communes du Canada, édicte :

1. Section 1 of the Canadian Bill of Rights is amended by adding the following after paragraph (b):

(b.1) the right of the individual to adequate training to develop the individual’s full literacy potential, free of unreasonable financial or other barriers;

1. L’article 1 de la Déclaration canadienne des droits est modifié par adjonction, après l’alinéa b), de ce qui suit :

b.1) le droit de l’individu à des cours d’alphabétisation lui permettant de développer ses aptitudes, sans obstacles injustifiés, notamment financiers;
