SUMMARY

This enactment amends Part I of the Canada Labour Code in order to add employment categories to the section on the awarding of successive contracts for services in the air transportation sector.

An Act to amend the Canada Labour Code (successive contracts for services)

Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate and House of Commons of Canada, enacts as follows:

R.‍‍S.‍‍, c. L-2

Canada Labour Code

1Paragraph 47.‍3(1)‍(a) of the Canada Labour Code is replaced by the following:

  • (a)provided services to another employer, or to a person acting on behalf of that other employer, in an industry referred to in paragraph (e) of the definition federal work, undertaking or business in section 2 Insertion start when those services were provided by any employees, including the following: Insertion end

    • Start of inserted block

      (i)aircraft mechanics,

    • (ii)airfield maintenance workers,

    • (iii)airline ticket or service agents,

    • (iv)baggage handlers,

    • (v)crew schedulers,

    • (vi)electricians,

    • (vii)firefighters,

    • (viii)flight attendants,

    • (ix)ground handlers,

    • (x)mechanics,

    • (xi)office support staff,

    • (xii)pre-board security screening officers,

    • (xiii)plumbers,

    • (xiv)ramp attendants,

    • (xv)refuellers,

    • (xvi)security guards, and

    • (xvii)wheelchair porters; or

      End of inserted block

EXPLANATORY NOTES

Canada Labour Code
Clause 1:Relevant portion of subsection 47.‍3(1):

47.‍3(1)In this section, previous contractor means an employer who, under the terms of a contract or other arrangement that is no longer in force,

  • (a)provided pre-board security screening services to another employer, or to a person acting on behalf of that other employer, in an industry referred to in paragraph (e) of the definition federal work, undertaking or business in section 2; or
