Canada as a whole makes up one of the regions of the CPA, and its 14 branches correspond to the provincial and territorial legislative assemblies and the federal Parliament. Within the Canadian region, legislators can take part in a wide range of exchange programs, conferences and seminars. The Canadian region also has its own publication, Canadian Parliamentary Review. The Regional Council is the decision-making body for the Canadian region.

On July 6, 2022, the Hon. Marilou McPhedran, Senator, attended a meeting of the Steering Committee of the Twelve Plus Group in her capacity as a Bureau member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s (IPU) Sustainable Development Committee. Participants continued their discussion of the planned mission to Kyiv and Moscow by the IPU’s Task Force for the peaceful resolution of the war in Ukraine. Senator McPhedran emphasized the importance of the principle of neutrality as the Task Force exercises its mandate.
