An Act to amend the Criminal Code and the
Modernization of Benefits and
Obligations Act

CRIMINAL CODE |

1. The definition ``child'' in section 214 of
the Criminal Code is replaced by the
following:
|
|
``child'' « enfant »
|
``child'' includes an adopted child or a child
born of persons who were not married to
each other at the time of the birth;
|

MODERNIZATION OF BENEFITS AND OBLIGATIONS ACT |

|
2. Section 340 of the Modernization of
Benefits and Obligations Act is amended by
adding the following after subsection (2):
|
|
|
(2.1) Subsection 89(1), to the extent that
it replaces paragraph (b) of the definition
````Inuk of Fort George'' or ``Inuit of Fort
George'''' in subsection 2(1) of the
Cree-Naskapi (of Quebec) Act, comes into
force on December 31, 2001.
