An Act to provide for the use of a maximum
speed control device for use on motor
vehicles and to prohibit the manufacture
and sale of motor vehicles that are not
equipped with a maximum speed control

SHORT TITLE |
|
Short title
|
1. This Act may be cited as the Maximum
Speed Control Device Act.
|

DEFINITIONS |

Definitions

2. The definitions in this section apply in
this Act.
|
|
``maximum
speed control
device'' « régulateur de vitesse maximale »
|
``maximum speed control device'' means a
prescribed speed control device that cuts off
fuel or power to the engine of a motor
vehicle when the speed of the motor vehicle
reaches 115 kilometres per hour.
|
|
``motor
vehicle'' « véhicule automobile »
|
``motor vehicle'' means any vehicle designed
to be driven or drawn on roads by any means
other than exclusively by muscular power
and capable of reaching a speed of 115
kilometres per hour, and includes pedal
cycles with auxiliary motors, minibikes and
motorized snow vehicles, but does not
include

3. A person shall not

4. Every one who contravenes paragraph
3(a) or (b) is guilty of an offence and liable on
summary conviction to a fine not exceeding
fifty thousand dollars.

3(c) or (d) is guilty of an offence and liable on
summary conviction to a fine not exceeding
ten thousand dollars.

7. This Act shall come into force one year
after the day on which it is assented to.
